Who we are

Ghana's leader in
pharmaceutical innovation

BioForma is a Ghana-based pharmaceutical manufacturer founded by U.S.-trained Ghanaian pharmacologists. With much of West Africa dependent on imported medicines, we focus on producing essential and customised medicines locally to improve access and affordability for the populations we serve.

Our vision is to build an export-ready pharmaceutical ecosystem that expands access to quality healthcare for West Africa and positions Ghana as a leader in medicine.

We combine advanced technology with clinical expertise to compound medicines that meet international quality standards.

70-90% of West Africa's pharmaceuticals are imported from overseas.

That means delays when supply chains fail, price swings tied to foreign currency, and quality that's hard to verify. BioForma was created to change this reality. We’re building pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity in Ghana to serve local, regional and global markets, producing high-quality, affordable essential medicines that meet WHO-GMP and Ghana FDA standards while reducing dependence on imports across the region.

Our core focus areas

BioForma was created to change West Africa's dependence on foreign pharmaceutical imports through four interconnected pillars:

01

World-class manufacturing

We’re building a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility to produce medicines for West Africa and global markets. Quality, affordability, and regulatory excellence are at the core of everything we do, with all of our products meeting WHO-GMP and Ghana FDA standards.

02

Technology-driven innovation

We use advanced, innovation-driven technology at every stage of our work to strengthen healthcare delivery across the regions we serve. From digital prescription management to advanced manufacturing tools, we deliver a more modern and seamless experience for patients and providers.

03

Personalised care through compounding

Not every patient fits a standard dose. Through pharmaceutical compounding, we prepare medications tailored to individual needs, adjusting dosages, modifying formulations, or combining therapies to ensure the medicine fits the patient, not the other way around.

04

Honouring African herbal medicine

For centuries, African healing traditions have long been part of how communities care for one another. We honour that legacy by combining traditional herbal knowledge with modern science to develop our herbal medicines and wellness products.
